| Minutes Plein Air Washington Meeting March 11, 2008 Attendees: Sylvia Carlton, Janice Kirstein, Jane Wallis, Paula Ensign, Gillian Bull, Sarah Bayer (sp?), Mark Boyle New Year Sylvia is excited about the events that are already scheduled for this year. She's calling it a "stellar year" because we have some exciting events in the works. PAWA members are reminded to get their dues in to Pat Sandman using the membership form on the website. Paint Outs The meeting was dedicated to discussion of the calendar. March 29, Skagit Valley - We'll meet at the Snow Goose at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 29 to paint the daffodils, and possibly some early tulips in the Mt. Vernon area. Directions and time will be confirmed in the email to the group. April 18, Skagit Valley - After the Tulip Festival is over, we'll meet on Friday, April 18 to paint the tulip fields. Meeting place and time will be announced later. May 1-4, Walla Walla -- Although many of the regulars from the Western part of the state are not able to make this paint out, we would like to keep these dates for our Eastern friends. Hopefully there will be some that can make the trip to the many fine painting sites around Walla Walla. May 17-18, Yakima - There is a lovely vineyard in Yakima with views of Mt. Adams. This is a great central location for artists to rendez-vous from all corners of the state. June 6- 7, Salt Creek State Park - This is a beautiful beach area on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It was decided to do this location instead of Dosewallips. July 17-19, Bainbridge Island - An annual picnic would be a great opportunity to bring everyone together. Bainbridge has many places to paint besides the winery. July 12 - August 2, San Juan Islands - The San Juan Preservation Trust would like us to return for a show at their annual picnic on August 2. The event is on San Juan Island. Preservation Trust lands will be available beginning July 12. More information will be coming soon about this event. We discussed the possibility of a quick draw. Janice is working on PR and would welcome your ideas. Bainbridge in Bloom - Interested PAWA artists should contact Sylvia if they would like to paint at Bainbridge in Bloom on July 11-13. Since only one artist will be allowed at a time per garden, Sylvia will put together a roster of painters. There will be five gardens open for three days with a morning and afternoon session for each day. Weyerhauser Gardens - Mark works at Weyerhauser in Federal Way and will look into access to their gardens for a possible Spring paintout. Next Meeting The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 8, 2007 at Artworks in Edmonds. Informal get together and painting review starts at 6:30 with the actual business meeting beginning at 7:00.
