‘Plein Air Washington Artists’ is a group of people who love the adventure of painting outdoors. We are dedicated to the fine art of painting on location in natural light to document the diverse and breathtaking scenery of our beautiful state.
In 2015, our focus was to celebrate our magnificant state. On November 7th we opened our "From Meadows to Mountains" juried exhibition at the American Art Company, in Tacoma. Winners were: Best of Show - Ned Mueller 'Mt. Shuksan', 1st - Jim Lamb 'Beartooth Evening', 2nd - Melanie Thompson 'Imnaha Cathedral', Best Plein Air - Jeanne Edwards 'Evening Path', Honorable Mention - Kathryn Townsend 'Mt. Moran Light', and Honorable Mention - Jan Jewell 'Alderbrook'. Congratulations to all the winners!
For 2016 we will focus on 'National Parks Centennial'. We’re very excited to paint and promote the dynamic landscapes that surround us. Check our events page for updates throughout the year, including paint-out and show details. Whether you paint, draw or simply admire, you’re invited to join us as we celebrate the beauty of Washington State.
Our members include artists of all levels of experience who benefit from sharing ideas, techniques, and enthusiasm; while enjoying the friendship and fellowship of people with our shared passion.
